UNDP Administrator Helen Clark Pays an Official Visit to Ukraine

Ms. Clark met with Ukraine’s top political leaders – President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Vice Prime Minister Henadiy Zubko, and the Presidential Envoy for peaceful settlement of the conflict Iryna Herashchenko. UNDP Administrator gave positive feedback on the 2015 Humanitarian Response Plan and stressed the need for joint efforts in this area. Ms. Clark confirmed further UNDP’s commitment to provide long-term assistance in peaceful settlement of the situation and support for democratic reforms. According to her, Ukraine has good opportunities for important changes and engagement of the civil society in this process.

Moreover, Ms. Clark met with civil society activists and visited the UNDP-supported Free People Employment Center, which helps internally displaced persons find new jobs. Also, the Administrator conducted UNDP Ukraine staff meeting where she discussed current objectives, targets and challenges for UNDP Office in Ukraine. GEF SGP team was involved in organization of the visit and UNDP Ukraine staff meeting.
